A journey through the valley will never be greater than the climb through the mountains to reach the top.
I often relax and become sedate when resting in the valley. The valley isn’t a bad place to rest. It offers shielding, comfort, and yet it also gives false hope. The valley makes you feel like there’s no where else you need to be. The decent to the valley slams you with obstacles along the way that makes it difficult and sometimes the impossible to see an out from the valley. The valley has it’s own challenges like floods, dense fog, and stagnate air. But on clear blue days, it offers a view of breathtaking majesty.
Looking up from the valley makes it seems all but impossible to climb out once you’re there. So people get used to the valley and some people call it quits. I get used to the valley sometimes. But then I choose to remember, our hope is not in the valley. Our hope is in the climb out of the valley to reach a mountain top. Our HOPE IS IN JESUS and the PROMISE of life after this world.
God has more for us than the valley and even more than the views and excitement of the climb out. Sadly and excitedly, many us have to fall in the valley before we can humbly seek His grace and mercies He offers us by knowing and accepting His Son, Jesus Christ. He was with you in the fall to the valley, in the valley and cheering you on as you climb out of the valley. Is the climb out of the valley easy? Certainly not on your own.
The lesson is to not get comfortable in the stillness and peace of the valley. Focusing on the present reality is not what we are called to do. We are called to look at the bigger picture of “Your kingdom come, your will be done.” He calls us to seek Him and follow his will daily. We are called to be disciples to the ends of the earth and share His Good News. Are you in a vallley? Cling on to the rope thrown to you by Jesus and make your way out! One step at a time. Have Faith, you are not alone.
